Alfred Hitchcock will always be regarded as one if not the very best producer and script writer of all time. Hitchcock wrote wonderful horror and thriller movies and used surprise, shock and mystery to draw his audiences into his films.
He could also write terrific comedy. Typically critics were often harsh about his films, but the number of film goers attested to his popularity every time.

When you think about how advanced movie making is nowadays it is testimony to the mans greatness that people still want to watch his films in 2010. He was renowned at being able to put a complexes recipe together and this drew audiences' in whilst they waited to see how his stories would end. Many legendary film makers look Hitchcock work and try to base what they do using some of his clever techniques.
Hitchcock was famous for writing scripts written with an outline but lots of room for the actors to improvise, and this often made scenes turn out completely different then first imagined. He normally had a clear idea of how he wanted the finished product look. He was great to work with but always insisted on having the very best performers who could complete the roles in the way he imagined them.
Sadly Hitchcock never got honoured by the Academy with a best Director Award. He didn't like the publicity that went with his enormous fame though. In about 1968 Hitchcock was given an award he was most proud of though. He was awarded the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award and this was presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
Like many legends of film Hitchcock received more accolades after he passed away. His status is confirmed by the way people use his name in everyday language to express themselves. Anytime a murder occurs Hitchcock's name will be referred to if it seems to be a difficult case.
