History of Wall Painting

History painting was considered as the grand genre in the olden times. When talking about the history of painting, we discuss it from the times when the man used to live in caves. In those times, the theme that grabbed the interest of humans was the reindeer which was their prey or the women in which they stressed the fertility of women and according to them on which the survival of the whole clan depended.
The history of painting spans all the cultures and traditions that is continuous. Although it is in disrupted form but it is an ongoing river of continuity that has its stems in 21st century as well.
When artists became aware of the fact that narrating history would always be subjective and the paintings would reflect an illusion. Thus realism and history painting lost their grounds and modern paintings were introduced.
The eastern paintings history has influences from many cultures and religions. The developments in eastern paintings historically were parallel to those in western paintings. The art from Africa, Islam, India, Korea, China and Japan all had an influence on the western art and vice versa.
The earlier Chinese paintings were most likely ornamental having patterns and designs instead of pictures. The pottery was painted with spirals, zigzags or animals. It was in the period if Warring States that the artists also thought of representing the world around them in their paintings. On the other hand, the Japanese art is the oldest and the most refined forms of the art. This art encompasses a wide range of genres and styles. The history of Japanese art is a competition between the Japanese aesthetics and the ideas that have been imported from various regions.
The other important history to note is the history of Korean painting which dates approximately 108 C.E when it first appeared as an independent form. It is appropriate to say that till the time of Joseon dynasty the influence was mainly from Chinese paintings although it was done with Korean landscapes and Buddhist topics. There was an emphasis on extraterrestrial observation but was aligned with the development of Korean astronomy.
All these countries have a strong background of painting which is attached with calligraphy art and printmaking. This is so common that it is usually seen as painting. The traditional paintings of Far East are characterized by water based techniques and are considered as elegant and stylized subjects. They are the graphical approach to depiction and a preference for landscape.
Since the beginning of 19th century painting has taken the interest of many of the people and is counterfeited by Neoclassicism and romanticism. Whereas on the other hand history painting has mocked to be realistic to show how the history has been but this pretension led to the failure of history painting and realism at the end of century.
In the 20th century, the paintings were more of representational, religious, and classical motifs. From these concepts, the paintings of abstract and conceptual approaches were used and in no time it turned peopleIs favor.
