HIP OPERATION MUSIC MANAGEMENT COMPANY FOCUS ON WEDDINGS

Leading UK music management company Hip Operation is to offer a dedicated music and performer booking service for weddings. The service has come about because Hip Operations Managing Director Steve Dolder identified the fact that wedding gigs are not like ordinary gigs.

Steve Dolder says:

"At a wedding a band or performer needs to have a wide repertoire, catering for everybody from the young to not so young. They need to be able to turn up the heat and get everybody up on the dance floor with all-time favorites, then need to perform the slow, romantic numbers. In addition to a wide range of music, they need to be able to feel the mood of the wedding and subtly change their play list accordingly. Not all bands and performers can pull this off, so we have compiled a cross-referenced database of the best wedding acts in the UK and are able to match the perfect band, singer or performer to the event"

Hip Operation was founded by rock drummer Steve in 2003. What began as an informal network of musicians who would cover for each other in the event of a double booking has grown into one of the largest professional music management companies in England.

The artists represented range from solo singers and performers, through string quartets and pipers to rock, pop and tribute bands. This range of talent led to enquiries from across the UK, and in 2008 Hip Operation launched a UK wide management and bookings service.

Steve Dolder says:

"Back in 2003 we were a group of musicians who would swap notes on venues, potential bookings and who would cover for each other during busy spells. As word spread, more bands and acts joined the group so in late 2003 we decided to put the business on a professional footing with a business plan and management structure. Our name has spread among UK musicians and venues by word of mouth to the point where we are able to offer representation to acts throughout the country. However as we grow, we are determined to retain our original ethos which is ‘Musicians managed by musicians'.
