Hundreds of people waited for hours at London’s Leicester Square last Thursday night to see… four QuirkStars? We wish! Even though some of us went home to change into something more sparkly and glamorous, people did in fact come to see Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint taking to the red carpet for the world premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1.

I was one of the extremely honoured and privileged people who, along with Carri, Carlos and Chris, got the chance to attend this great premiere. It was amazing to sit in the cinema amongst so many great people who were involved in bringing the film to the public. A big thank you to Warner Bros. for allowing us to be part of this fantastic experience.

After nine years and eight films, Harry Potter fans are still as dedicated as ever. They were determined enough to camp out in the rain in an attempt to see their icons in real life. It probably doesn’t come as a surprise that J.K. Rowling, the popular writer of the series, was named 'Most Influential Woman in Britain' by leading magazine Editors (October 2010). For the fans that weren’t crazy enough to spend a night outside, Warner Bros. and the team did some amazing work together in providing a Live Stream of the premiere on YouTube. Take a peek at some of the evening’s highlights here.

In my opinion, the film’s estimated budget of £150 million was spent very well. The actors gave a brilliant performance and I was definitely entertained throughout the film. What I believe makes this Harry Potter production stand out from the previous ones is the “Tale of the Three Brothers” scene which was told in a completely unique style using a spectacular animation. Overall, it is definitely worthwhile seeing Harry and his friends hit the road to seek out a series of artefacts (‘Horcruxes’) to bring down The Dark Lord. Although we have to wait for the second part to come out next year to see if they succeed, their first attempt is extremely exciting! Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 is out in the UK on 19 November and in South Africa on 26 November. Don’t miss it!
