Watch Family Guy Season 9 Episode 3 - Welcome Back Carter Household Guy is an American animated tv collection created by Seth MacFarlane for the Fox Broadcasting Company. The collection facilities on the Griffins, a dysfunctional household consisting of oldsters Peter and Lois; their kids Meg, Chris, and Stewie; and their anthropomorphic pet dog Brian. The show is about within the fictional metropolis of Quahog, Rhode Island, and lampoons American tradition, society, television and lots of features of the human condition.

The household was conceived by MacFarlane after creating animated films, The Lifetime of Larry and Larry & Steve. MacFarlane redesigned the films' protagonist Larry and his canine Steve, and renamed them Peter and Brian, respectively. MacFarlane pitched a 15 minute pilot to Fox which aired on December 20, 1998. After the pilot aired the show was green-lighted and began production. Shortly after the third season of Family Guy aired in 2001, Fox canceled the series. However, favorable DVD sales and excessive scores for syndicated reruns satisfied the network to resume the present in 2004.

Household Guy has been nominated for 12 Primetime Emmy Awards and 11 Annie Awards, and has received three of each. It has garnered three Golden Reel Award nominations, profitable once. In 2009, it was nominated for an Emmy for Excellent Comedy Collection, the first time an animated sequence was nominated for the award since The Flintstones in 1961. Household Guy has additionally obtained adverse criticism, including unfavorable comparisons for its similarities to The Simpsons.

Many tie-in media have been launched, including Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story, a straight-to-DVD particular launched in 2005; Family Man: Reside in Vegas, a soundtrack-DVD combo released in 2005, that includes music from the show in addition to authentic music created by MacFarlane and Walter Murphy; a video game and pinball machine, launched in 2006 and 2007, respectively; and, since 2005, six books published by Harper Grownup based mostly on the Family Man universe.
