Glee Season 1 - Hit or Miss?

Good news Glee fans! The hit series with over eight million loyal fans will be returning to the network on April 13th after a four month long gap. Season 1 was focused on the Glee club's freshman season at McKinley High where they were headed for the regional competition. However, if you have been missing out on the action don't feel too bad, there is still hope to discover all the juicy details of the hit series.

McKinley High's Spanish teacher, Will Schuester, played by Matthew Morrison has his own recollections of being in the glee club when he was in school. He takes charge of the school's club once he gets word that it is possibly going to be dispersed. He offers to be the director.

The Glee club members themselves include a typical bunch of outcasts in the school setting. One is Tina Cohen-Chang who is played by Jenna Ushkowitz who suffers from a speech impediment. Another is Artie Abrams played by Kevin McHale who is wheelchair bound. Kurt Hummel who is Chris Colfer is a soprano who has not yet come out of the closet that he is gay. Rachel Berry played by Lea Michele does not have any charm but has plenty of talent and ambition. Last but not least is Amber Riley who plays the character of Mercedes Jones, a diva who is jealous of the fact that Rachel is usually the star.

The Glee club does receuit new members though who are not typical of their makeup. Finn Hudson, who is played by Cory Monteith, is the quarterback who isn't going to give the sport up just to sing. Quinn Fabray who is Dianna Agron plays his girlfriend who only joins the club to try to bring it down as the head cheerleader and Noah Puckerman who is Finn's bad boy friend.

The head coach of the cheerleading squad, Sue Sylvester played by Jane Lynch, attempts to bring the club down because she feels that it makes the school have an embarrassing image.

The first half of the show focuses on the sectionals competition that is coming up against two other schools. Romance is not exempt from the Glee club though because Finn and Rachel soon find themselves attracted to each other which poses a huge problem both due to him dating Quinn and the social rules which apply. The reason Puck joins is initially to try to convince his best friend Finn not to due to the social repercussions but he falls in love with singing.

Kurt gets crushed on by Mercedes but the pressure gets to him of hiding in the closet and eventually he comes out. Tina and Artie have their own romantic fling until the fact that Tina's speech impediment is fake comes out and Artie feels betrayed.

Will, although he is a teacher, is not immune to drama. His wife gets very jealous of all the time he spends with the club. Eventually sparks fly between Will and Emma until she realizes that he is taken and instead goes for the head football coach. Quinn also gets pregnant somewhere in the midst by Puck and is kicked out of the cheerleading squad, the Cheerios. Will's wife Terri also gets pregnant and feels that it will save their down spiraling marriage, until she discovers she actually isn't pregnant and makes an arrangement with Quinn to adopt her child.

Quinn eventually back pedals on the agreement and decides to keep the child which in turn allows Will to find out about Terri's schemes. As a result, he leaves her. The glee club wins the sectional competition even though their set list was leaked by Coach Sylvester, who is kicked off as cheerleading coach. Emma states she is leaving McKinley, the football coach, and subsequently she shares a kiss with Will. We look forward to much more music and drama with the upcoming new season.
