In every country and in every city, there are gangs who engage in organised crime. This series will deliver the facts and truth about Australia's gangland world, both past and present. Gambling, race-fixing, drugs, prostitution, stand-over tactics, thieving, armed robbery, violence, murders, double-crossings and horrifyingly ruthless human beings - be prepared to be blown-away...

A gang can be loosely described as: 'A group of people who, through the organization, formation, and establishment of an assemblage, share a common identity.' ... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gang.

"The whole is greater than the sum of the parts"...
By associating with others, and working effectively together, much more can be accomplished than a couple of individuals working alone. People always group with like minded people. We don't play sports because we are athletes, we play sports because we are people, and the sport is the common denominator that draws us together. Some people are predisposed to becoming gang members, as they find a sense of belonging they cannot find anywhere else. This would be true of the Crips and Bloods of Los Angeles or the Bra Boys in Sydney. These people will gravitate towards the lifestyle they seek.

Please know that I have no intentions whatsoever of glamourising psychos, thugs, murderers, and stupid criminals. From my own personal experience, there is nothing glamorous about being with a criminal, particularly an evil and violent one. I spent most of my ten year relationship with him looking over my shoulder and living on my wits. I spent many squandered hours sitting in courtrooms and many daunting visits were made to a maximum security prison where he was serving time.

The media has often turned gangsters into stars and seem to overlook the innocent victims and human suffering caused by the actions and unscrupulous deeds of criminal gangs. These people shouldn't be treated like celebrities. They are criminals that have an over-inflated opinion of themselves and procure power through bullying and violence.

The purpose of this series is to give curious readers a background knowledge into Australia's most notorious figures and gangland identities. It considers the horrendous impact and anguish the victims of crime have to cope with for the rest of their lives. This series Gangland Australia is dedicated to the children who watched helplessly on, as their mum or dad were brutally executed.
