FillerUp Club - Review of the product opportunity

FillerUp Club is a new savings club and Multi-Level Marketing / Network Marketing income program that's in the process of launching. It promises monthly half-price gasoline as well as a lucrative income stream, but how does the reality live up to those promises?

From their website:

"The FillerUpClub is a membership-driven organization that combines the consumer power of our membership to buy commodity futures and futures options on gasoline. We hedge against future gas prices at less per gallon in the same way manner as Airlines and Trucking Companies. In this fashion, we are able to pass the savings on to our members through a method of vouchers and rebates."

So what does this mean? Simply that it appears they use the buying power of a large network to lock-in cheaper gasoline prices.

The Product:

The product of FillerUp Club is a monthly rebate for Half-price Gasoline. Since the company is currently in pre-launch, there are no consumer reviews of how the system works in action. The basic concept is you buy your gas normally, and submit your receipts to the company for reimbursement of ½ your cost back.

The reality is a bit more complex. You pay a $10 monthly fee to remain a member of FillerUp Club, and to receive your rebates you also must purchase 'vouchers'. There are $200, $400 and $600 vouchers, which allow a maximum of $66, $132, and $200 in gas receipts to be sent in monthly, respectfully. Vouchers pay out the total rebate over a 6 month period.

So here's the great news - the vouchers are perpetual, they never expire. The 6-month rebate period is where they really pay off for themselves. For Example, you buy a $600 voucher, you can send in receipts of $200 per month and receive a maximum of $1,200 in rebates over a 6-month period ($600 mailed to you as a check, $600 placed back in your account).

Also, if you need more rebate monthly, you can buy multiples of vouchers.

The Opinion:

FillerUp Club is an innovative and interesting concept, with a strong selling proposition in half-priced gasoline. The method is a bit complex, but seems well-thought out and legitimate, while the income opportunity is simple and straightforward. For the low-risk of $10 a month, it seems well worth it to get half-priced gasoline, while the other benefits such as vouchers for half-price vacations are an 'icing on the cake' benefit.
