With the economic situation of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is going worse than ever, let us take a quick look at the reason behind this. This analysis can prove to be beneficial at this point of time when the country awaits a new government. With the Election Day scheduled on December 13, all the residents of the country should look back to analyze the problems that they have faced for the past 9 years and should try to find their causes. This is not only going to help them make a good decision about whom they want to elect this time but also can give the country a better government, one that can bring about the necessary changes that can lead this country towards development both in terms of economy and it terms of industry.

Before casting your votes on the Election Day let us just take a look at the most prominent problems that bug you. These problems include poverty and unemployement, increasing crime rate, poor health policies and much more. Of course, none of these problems are quite separate from one another and are rather intertwined. The solution to one problem can also be a solution for the other. But the ULP government has failed to come up with any solution of any of these problems whatsoever.

Poverty and Unemployment

Poverty and unemployment remain one of the major issues of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Owing to a steep drop in the banana production of the country, a large number of people associated with the trade have lost their jobs. The government has failed to start production of any other crop that can earn foreign revenue. This has lead to a great number of unemployment and the unemployed people are living a life of extreme misery and poverty. However, the government so far has not done much for these unemployed people.

Increasing Crime Rate

If we say that the increasing crime rate is just the aftermath of unemployment, it will not be much wrong thing to say. In fact, when people could not find a job for themselves, they took the path of crime. Some even engaged themselves in marijuana production. This has earned the country as one of the leading producer of marijuana in the Caribbean. The drug lords have found a new haven in this country and that is one of the reasons behind the increased crime rate as well. However, the government is still not seemed alarmed by the situation and is taking its time to assess it. On the other hand, the consumption of drug and narcotics has also gone up leading to several crimes committed under the influence of drug. That is why Saint Vincent and the Grenadines has the third highest rate of reported cases of rapes.

Poor Health Policies

The government has treated the public health policies with utter callousness. Some of the health policies failed miserably under ULP regime.

Thus the government has failed to meet the basic issues like employment, health and safety of the citizens of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. They do not deserve to be re-elected.
