There is now the HD Movie mode that is now part of the package that photographers will be seeking in their new DSLR purchases. The movie mode in the T2i has been improved to match the movie mode in the 7D semi-professional model (a 7D will cost you twice as much).

According to the Canon press release: "The Rebel T2i DSLR captures video in both NTSC (National Television System Committee) and PAL (Phase Altering Line) standards at selectable frame rates including Full HD 1920 x 1080 at 30 (29.97), 25 or 24 (23.976) fps, and HD 1280 x 720 or Standard Definition 640 x 480 quality video, at 60 (59.94) or 50 fps."

The improvement over the older version which had video capabilities of 1080p at only 20fps is very much welcome, as it delivered unacceptable quality for most viewers.

A major complaint from previous model owners was the poor sound quality of the built in mic. The sound is much better with the external mic jack when recording in a video mode.

Increasing the impressive 15 mega pixel sensor to the 18.7 mega pixels are a great feature for the entry level. Mega pixels are not the end-all as far as features are concerned but an impressive at the entry level when you consider that the 7D level costs twice as much.

Using the Canon Rebel T2i in a low light (such as indoors) has been improved by improved ISO selection sensitivity of 100 to 6400, with possibilities of extending it to 12800. This is up from the 3200 in the older model.

Exposure compensation has been increased from 2 stops plus or minus to 5 stops. This is really exciting news for photo enthusiasts who do HDR work.

The increased resolution panel to 1.02 million dots in the quality upgraded LCD panel is a much better screen resolution.

A good feature for the stop action shooting is the slight increase of the burst rate from 3.4 frames per second to 3.7 frames per second.

The new release with the upgrades is a welcome one. The price seems to be a bit higher then the competition, especially at the entry level market. The Canon Rebel T2i has the features that none of the competitors can claim to have.

If you are looking for a camera that can take quality video, still photo quality that matches the pros. Full feature package that nearly matches a much more expensive DSLR, then you need to consider the NEW Rebel T2i (550D) from Canon.

The Canon Rebel T2i will take the photography market by storm. If you are a photographer and love new gear, this newest Rebel is a gem. It is officially categorized as an entry level DSLR; it is a camera that photographers at every level will want to have in their gear bag.
