Does Manuka Honey fight Swine Flue

Manuka honey is an amazing alternative which is being widely used in hospitals throughout the world. With an out break of swine flue on the rise people are looking for alternatives to help protect and treat against the out break. But how does the New Zealand's natural remedy match the nasty out break.

Manuka Honey is excellent for your health as are most honeys. They are rich in nutrients which feed the body and helps to maintain a good natural balance of the bodies chemicals. Manuka honey is an excellent supplement to be taking if you do contract swine flu but there is no evidence that Manuka honey will cure virus. There is how ever strong evidence that Manuka honey will help to prevent contracting the virus. Manuka honey is most effective when applied to directly to the effected area this is why it has proven so effective treating MRSA it is topically applied to the wound which will forms a protective barrier to protect as well as killing any bacteria in the wound. Manuka honey has been proven to be effective in killing the swine flue virus, though only through topical application.


There are many protective creams which contain Manuka honey which will help protect against the flu, though simple hygiene and a healthy diet and lifestyle is also very important. If you are infected with the virus be wise and stay at home, don't be afraid to admit you have contracted the virus. It's effecting thousands of people through out the UK and advising people you are a carrier is safer for everyone. The faster we quarantine this the better.

In most cases you wont need to visit the GP and is advised not to due fast spreading and helplines are available if you are not sure. Most people who have contracted swine flu recover within a week and do not suffer complications, even without being given antiviral medication.

Symptoms of swine flu are.

• sudden cough.
Other symptoms may include:
• headache,
• tiredness,
• chills,
• aching muscles,
• limb or joint pain,

• diarrhoea or stomach upset,
• sore throat,
• runny nose,
• sneezing, and
• loss of appetite.
Vitamin C and Manuka honey plenty of rest will help assist your recovery though at this stage there is no proof that Manuka Honey is effective as a treatment.
It does not cure swine flu but does help to prevents it.
