A lot of satellite TV providers have flooded the markets in the United States. One among these is DirecTV that garnered a lot of popularity over the years, but recently is facing many controversies, as it is alleged to follow malpractices that are unethical business procedures. It has been proved that the company goofed up things, employed deceptive advertising campaigns and sales pitch to attract large consumers into signing up for the contract, and once they are enrolled, it uses them to its advantage, which is unprincipled and improper as well. Almost all the business organizations need to follow some business policies to stay in the run, but DirecTV has forgone everything to capture huge market share. However, in the long, this wouldn’t help and the company will hopefully realize this soon.

You have across many complaints and allegations against the company, which include faulty equipment, hidden fee and charges, early termination fee, irresponsible customer care and many more. However, the one which is really taking a toll on customers largely is its advertisement scam and unclear sales practices. A multistate investigation was carried on, which has revealed that DirecTV never disclosed terms and conditions clearly to subscribers. Moreover, consumers couldn’t understand when they were cheated by this satellite TV giant. Similar is the case with this subscriber, who paid a hefty amount for getting a DVR, so that he and his son could enjoy recorded shows and programs whenever and wherever they wanted. However, post the purchase and installation, they were revealed something else.

This subscriber purchased the whole-home DVR from DirecTV, who publicized that with this DVR anyone could easily watch programs and shows that are recorded on the digital video recorded (DVR) in any room of the house. Therefore, to enjoy this facility, he took a second DVR from the satellite TV giant at a price of $107. The subscriber picked a standard box so that his son could watch recorded programs in his room. The installation was fine and everything was great until he asked the installer to show him the way to watch recorded shows from DVR so that his son can enjoy them.

But to his utter astonishment, the installer revealed to him that his son will not be able to watch the recorded shows because only the HD boxes supported the whole-home DVR services. The subscriber was taken aback to learn this. He felt cheated and is really upset with the company. What is boggling him the most is that why didn’t the company tell him this while signing up for the same. Why, in the first place DirecTV allowed him to get a standard box for his DVR service, when this equipment is not compatible to offer the whole-home DVR services!

To make the matter, when the subscriber called up to ask for the HD box, they told him that in order to the HD box, he will have to shell out another $168 for the same, which was too much for the consumer. The subscriber is highly annoyed and disappointed and feels that DirecTV is a complete liar and it should not be subscribed.
