Leica 35mm
- This lens is very fast, offers top-class image quality in low light, but is large and heavy.
- Fields of view - as focal lengths become longer, fields of view become narrower and narrower.

Sigma 14mm
- A wide-angle for the 35mm format, designed to provide a super wide-angle for digital cameras. Equivalent to 21mm on many slr digitals, such as the nikon d1 series.

Canon 20mm
- A very useful ultra wide-angle for 35mm and giving a 35efl of about 30mm on digital cameras. These single focal length, or prime, lenses generally give excellent, distortion-free results.

Canon 28mm
- Compact, fast (having a wide maximum aperture), and easy to use, a 28mm lens is one of the most versatile there is. Useful for subjects from portraiture to landscapes as well as close-up, fast-moving action.

Nikkor 45mm
- Based on a classic optic, this 45mm lens is extremely compact yet capable of producing top-class images. An ideal lens for a quality, lightweight outfit, and usable with a wide range of subjects.

Canon 50mm
- A very useful focal length - its very fast (wide) maximum aperture makes this type of lens one of the most versatile you can own. In addition, you should expect impeccable image quality.

Canon 300mm
- An ideal lens for sports photography and wildlife work. This lens is heavy, however, and requires support.

Equivalent focal length
- A "normal" lens is taken as being one whose focal length is about equal to the length of a diagonal line drawn across the film format. With the 35mm format, the diagonal of a frame of film is 43mm.

With digital cameras, normal focal length varies with image-sensor size. The practice is to quote the "efl" (equivalent focal length) for the 35mm format. The maximum wide-angle of many digital zooms is a 35efl of 35mm, while a 35efl of 28mm is offered on only a few digital cameras.
