3-Plus-Megapixel Model

- with a two-section body that allows the lens to be swivelled and excellent optical quality that is outstanding close-up, this camera has become a popular choice.

Casio QV3000

Looking like an ordinary camera, this model offers a 3x zoom delivering good image quality to a 3-megapixel sensor. The camera is relatively inexpensive and it is easy to use, if somewhat large and bulky.

Olympus 3030Z

A well-specified camera offering many functions and capable of producing high-quality results of 3.3 megapixels with a 3x zoom lens. It is quite a small camera, however, and some controls may be fiddly to use, but it is a popular choice.

Canon

With its 4-megapixel sensor, 3x zoom, and a rugged body, this capable camera is a good choice for more serious work. It is also easy to use with a good range of exposure controls at its disposal. It also takes high-performance flash units.

Fuji FinePix 4900 Zoom

Capable of delivering an interpolated file of some 4 megapixels from a 2.4-megapixel sensor, this camera produces excellent results from a wide range of controls. It has a 6x zoom lens, handles well, and is very reasonably priced.

Casio QV4000

This is a sturdy, capable camera with a good range of features, such as spot metering and a wide selection of scene modes. Delivering nearly 4 megapixels, it is capable of fair-to-good-quality images from its 3x zoom lens.

Ricoh RDC-1500

This model looks unusual but is practical and easy to use. The 3-megapixel images from its 3x zoom can be of very good quality, while its close-up ability allows it to focus as close a 1cm (M in). Emails can be sent from the camera.
