So, he asked you to marry him and you said "yes," and now...the pressure is on.  Before you is the exhausting task of planning a wedding.  So many choices.  So little time.  Where do you begin?  Well, let's start looking at some of your options...and in particular, let's focus our attention on hair decorations for weddings.

Hair decorations are the easy, fun part and although they can be very expensive, I'm going to share some ways to cut the cost dramatically and still have the most elegant and beautiful pieces imaginable.

When it comes to hair decorations, you do have a lot of choices. Everything from a simple satin bow to a long, elegant cathedral veil.

Choosing these pieces can be narrowed down by theme, style, and personal preference.

What type of dresses are you looking at? Are they modern, traditional, Victorian, or a cool linen beach dress?

Hair decorations for a beach wedding can be a simple tropical flower or hair pins with tiny sea shells attached. Victorian dresses could have a gorgeous veil and a few violets attached to a hair comb.

Modern dresses are amazingly beautiful with a fascinator! If you haven't caught the fascinator fever yet, you probably will soon. They are showing up everywhere - bridal magazines, the latest cat walks, Lady Gaga, and of course the Royal Wedding.

Actually fascinators look great with any theme and any style. They can be very small and delicate or substantial. They can be made up of a variety of flowers and feathers and placed on a disc base or mini top hat.

I personally fell in love with these "hat replacements" and consider them a work of art. I love the styles and artistic ways they are being worn and especially love them when worn by the bride and bridesmaids. They are both elegant and artsy and are sure to make a big impression. What a lovely way to accent your dress.

I know, they are very expensive, but it is as simple as choosing a hair comb, clip, or headband and attaching a nice arrangement of fabric flowers and feathers with glue or by sewing them in place. Birdcage veils are beautiful when worn with a fascinator.

Birdcage netting comes in 9" - 12" widths and can be attached with a bobby pin. The hair clip or fascinator is placed over the bobby pin so it looks like one piece.

If you prefer something smaller, try a beautiful hair clip. They can be made with a single flower or a focal flower with smaller feathers or flowers around it. Simply attached to an alligator clip with glue, it is a beautiful way to add drama!

If you have seen hair clips at the bridal shops, you know how expensive they can be, but they are so easy to make.

Hair pins are even easier to make. If you prefer pearls or crystals, they can be attached to a hair pin with jewelry wire. Just thread them onto the wire, twist into any shape you find pleasing and then twist onto a hair pin. So easy and you will save lots of money!

Headbands and bun wraps can be a simple satin ribbon embellished with mini buckles threaded on and tied into a bow. Or, you can attach an elaborate fascinator to a thin headband that is the same color as your hair. This way the hair hides the headband and only the fascinator or hair flower will be seen.

Hair decorations for weddings really are an elegant way to accent your beautiful dress and a wonderful way to make a unique, memorable statement!
