It is everybody's dream to cruise aimlessly in the vast stretches of ocean on a starry night, away from the bubbling city-life, with a beautiful company of few chosen ones. Spending few hours or few days on an oceanic ride seems a distant dream, but not for everyone. The adventures and passionate lovers of ocean now have a luxurious treat knocking at their doorstep. The fourth edition of Mumbai international boat show that recently got over in Mumbai promised to build on the excitement of sailing and marine activities in the country. On display were the most sought after and luxurious brands in the world catering to the passionate sailors.

Cruise liners have become passé with increasing appetite for a personal adventure and freedom. There is a swelling segment of HNI's (High Net Worth Individuals), who may not be reluctant to part with few millions to take on the challenge of riding on waves, on their own. From 22' to 164', the exhibition offered a wide range of extravaganza with big brands like San Lorenzo, Silverton, Fjellstrand, Astonda and Yamaha counting on luring the Indian customers into the seas.

The experience of sailing in a custom-made private yacht is incomparable to any other adventure on the land or in air. The privacy and comfort of a yacht makes it the most sought after pet of billionaires. Lunching on an open deck miles away from the land and then spending the night in your tailor-made bedroom, sounds like a dream. But, a high-end luxury yacht like Sanlorenzo, stretching up to 164 feet, can further provide you with a dinning area, kitchen and many other facilities one may fail to dream about. The cabin cruisers like Glastron cater to the smaller segment of 18' to 32', good enough for shorter trips. But, if you are looking to challenge the tidal force with your speed, you can opt for a Stingray or Mahindra Odyssea.

These are designed to give you a face-on experience of taking on the waves for few hours. Apart from personal segment, the boat show also presented the concept of on-water dining experience in five-star hotel yachts. With a capacity of 100 to 500 guests, this marks a new trend in Indian tourism. The show also offered the state of art, high-tech navigation aids to keep track of the journey and provide the necessary information about weather and sea - not to be missed unless one wants to get lost in the deep waters.

So, it's time to check out the latest toys of marine expeditions in the world, right at your doorstep. The Mumbai boat show 2010 was organized at MMRDA grounds, Bandra-Kurla complex and by the waters of Gateway of India.
