A short time ago I decided that it was time to purchase new sheets for the bed. I thought it would be wise to do a little research before making a decision. I had no idea that there were so many choices out there! There was Bamboo, Egyptian Cotton, Percale, cotton, and the list went on.

I decided to start with Bamboo. Did you know that bamboo is one of the softest fabrics in the world? It is noticeably softer than cotton. It is grown without pesticides and grows over 1 meter per day. It is one of the fastest growing plants because of its ability to absorb water. It needs very little water to grow. Therefore it is a very environmentally friendly material to use. Since it is so absorbent, it keeps people dry and comfortable while sleeping.

Bamboo is also very resistant to dust mites, making it great for people with allergies or those sensitive to chemicals.

These sounded like great sheets, but I still wanted to check out the Egyptian Cotton sheets that I had heard so much about lately.

Egyptian cotton sheets are said to be some of the finest available. Egyptian cotton is known for its extra long fibers. These fibers can produce thread that is thinner. This is because of its extra length. Thinner threads make higher thread counts. The higher the thread count, the softer the sheets will feel. Because the thread counts are high, the sheets will be more durable and will last longer. The life of the sheets will also depend on the care they are given.

When purchasing, make sure that the sheets are made of 100% cotton, not cotton blends.

Now that I have all of this information on these two types of sheets, I'm off to research pricing!
