With a right shade of color, you can magnify your beautiful skin tone and your glow. If you choose the opposite, even the best maintained skin will look dull and unappealing. Colors that do not gel with your skin tone makes it look sickly or washed out! The best option in such cases it go for color analysis so that you always choose only those colors that are right for you. Then only will you look your best.

Here is how to do color analysis for your skin:

Start with removing all traces of makeup from your skin. Now take a good look at yourself in the mirror. Can you identify the right shade of color of your skin? The first thing to note is what your skin tone is; if you have pink cheeks that get easily sunburned, then you have the “cool” skin tone. If the skin tans well, then you have “warm” tone. It is seen that people with cool tones often have light skin and eyes that are also light in color. Those who have warm tone have slightly darker eyes and medium colored skin. The range of skin color is quite dispersed; it can be light to medium to dark. Hence, if you have “warm” tone, go for honey or beige colored foundations whereas if you have cool tone, stick to light-colored or pale foundation.

Another way to find what skin tone you have is by seeing the skin on the inside of your wrist. If the veins there look blue, then you have a cool skin tone while it is warm if the veins look green. In reality, the veins are actually blue in color; but if they are covered by transparent colors like yellow they will look green. This color analysis gives you what undertone you have. If the veins are blue, your skin undertone is bluish-pink while with green, the undertone is yellow.

Now let’s try to find which metal is best suited for you, gold or silver. Take one of each type and hold it against your skin. It is seen that silver goes best with cool tones while gold with warm tones. So stick to these two color palette while choosing your clothes, makeup and hair color. So for cool tones, go for such hair colors as ash brown, ask blonds, ruby red, burgundy and cool black. For those with warm tones, the colors for hair can be orange-based reds like auburn, ginger or flame, golden browns or blond, and pale blonds. If you want a natural look, then go for a combination of these different shades rather than a flat single color. You can either ask your colorist to create a customized hair color for you or go for hair coloring kits that include highlight color.

Now try on an orange shirt and a cool pink shirt. You will find that only one of them looks good on you. That is because cool tones go great with sapphire blue, sea green, ruby red, lavender, silver, plum, emerald green, other pastel colors and of course, cool pink. If you have warm tones, colors that will look good on you, apart from orange, are earth tones like yellow-green, olive green, red, navy blue and dark brown.

Based on these color analysis, choose your hair and makeup color. Many people find it is easier to choose which colors to wear than which color palette to use as makeup. As a broad guide, those who have blue eyes can choose for eye shadow colors like taupe, peach, silver, burgundy, soft browns and plum. For those with hazel or brown eyes, the best colors are caramel, honey corals, reds, olive green and chocolate.
