A nine-year-old boy in rural Kansas has just saved his mother's life and helped deliver his baby sister. The family lives in a tornado-prone area and has a subterranean shelter built in the back yard, with wireless access. The father was away from home that day. After they'd heard a tornado warning, the boy had helped his nine-month-pregnant mother into the shelter and the two began to play video games. They used the cell phone to watch the tornado on the map advance on their area.

As luck would have it, his mom suddenly sat up with a groan and announced she was in labor. The boy didn't panic. He called 911, of course, but the ambulance was going to be delayed by the tornado. This was a child who was calm in emergencies. His next step was to get online again and run a cell phone lookup.

The boy knew he needed to call his mom's doctor, so he could tell him how to help her. He also knew calling the answering service at night is not the way to go - it takes forever for the doctor to call back. He was pretty computer-savvy and spent lots of time online. He remembered the doctor's name. The boy knew the number for the doctor's cell phone would probably be listed in the online cell phone directory.

It was. The boy dialed the doctor's cell phone number and prayed he would answer. He did. The boy did everything as told. When the tornado had passed so the ambulance and the doctor could get to the house, the boy had a little sister, and his mom was proudly smiling up at him. It would all be alright now. Whew! Good thing the little hero thought of using that online cell phone directory. All is well that ends well.
