Busta Rhymes is a known American rapper, actor and songwriter. He is popular for the hits Woo Hah!! Got You All in Check, Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See and What's It Gonna Be.

Busta who was born to Jamaican parents Trevor Smith, Sr. and Cherry Green, goes with the real name of Trevor Tahiem Smith, Jr. His screen name "Busta Rhymes" was given by Chuck D of Public Enemy. It was taken from the NFL wide receiver George "Buster" Rhymes.

The rapper's musical career began when he was 17 years old. He started as a member of the Leaders of the New School, a hip hop crew with Charlie Brown, Dinco D and Cut Monitor Milo. However, Busta gained more popularity over the other band members through his performance in the song Scenario from A Tribe Called Quest. It resulted to the disbandment of the group at the set of Yo! MTV Raps.

Busta's solo career officially began with the hit single Woo Hah!! Got You All in Check from the album titled as The Coming. It was followed by the album When Disaster Strikes with the hit singles Dangerous, and Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See.


His success continued for his third album entitled Extinction level Event (Final World Front) in 1998. It was an album that stated his perception that the year 2000 marks the end of the world. The album is also known for the song "Iz They Wildin Wit Us & Gettin' Rowdy Wit Us" which showed Busta's fastest rapping style. It also featured the single "What's It Gonna Be" with Janet Jackson.

Busta Rhymes had collaborations with artists such as Mary J. Blige, P. Diddy, Kelis and Pharell in the album Genesis. He also released hit songs that feature Mariah Carey, Sean Paul, Spliff Starr.
