Think Marie Antoinette & prepare to be a princess for the night. Getting the girls over for tea is a perfect excuse to get glammed up in your best frocks & eat cake!

Visit your nearest bakers or patisserie for some indulgent cakes. Pick out cup cakes, gateau's & French fancies. If you have the time then make your own!

To achieve the look you should think about petticoats, basques & plunging necklines. Accessorize with high heels, masks, fans, strings of pearls & powdered wigs! This is a theme you can really go to town with. Pile up your sweet treats in vintage cake stands & sip tea from dainty cups & saucers. Or for something a bit special, forget the tea & serve up pink champagne instead.

For entertainment - hire in a roulette wheel & play for sweets.

We Love Weddings

If you are a fan of the show Friends, then you may remember the episode were the girls each got hold of a wedding dress & played at being the bride for the night. It looked like great fun, so why not give it a go yourselves?

Get in lots of wine, food & cheesy wedding music. You will also need a bouquet of artificial flowers for tossing the bouquet & a sponge cake for the cake-cutting ceremony!

If some of your friends are already married then they will probably jump at the chance to don their finery once again. For you singletons, head to the thrift shops for some bargain second hand wedding dresses. This is not the time to debut your real wedding dress, there is far too much potential for damage!

Don't forget the after dinner toasts & speeches! It is a great time to be as rude & outspoken as you like - provided you haven't invited your mother or mother-in-law along of course!

1980's Movie Magic

Everyone remembers the eighties - the awful fashion, the camp music & those ridiculous movies! Dig out your ra-ra skirt & fingerless gloves & get ready to party like it's 1985!

Dig out as many brat pack movies as you can find (Pretty in Pink, St Elmo's Fire & The Breakfast Club) & settle down for a nostalgic evening of movies. Set out snacks, takeaway pizza & bottles of beer.

Keep it kitsch all the way with neon colors, loud prints, skin tight jeans & leg warmers. Finish your look off with the hair crimpers! For some extra fun break out the twister mat!

Shake it up Baby!

Throw a fun cocktail party by making up some special concoctions of your own. It is easier than you think & will cost you a fraction of the price charged at cocktail bars.

Set out an array of spirits, mixers & accompaniments like umbrellas, olives & cherries. You don't need to equip yourself with bar equipment either. An egg cup is a perfect measure & a jar with a sealable lid is a great shaker.

Wear cocktail dresses in classic black as with all that fruit & juice being splashed around this is no time for pastel colors!
