Bope attacks barricades of the traffic with `transformers'

To destroy obstacles installed for outlaws, troop of the elite of the p.m. gains shovel mechanics, retroescavadeira and tractor

Rio de Janeiro - a fleet of giant vehicles, weighed, capable to destroy any obstacle and that they fight against the forces of the evil. This is not a scene of a film on cars that if they transform into robots, but of a reality next for the elite troop of the p.m. The new equipment acquired for the Battalion of Special Operations (Bope) - a line of vehicles especially ordered to destroy barricades of the traffic in the slum quarters - they had started to arrive at the unit this week and had earned, of the policemen, the nickname of `Transformers Caveiras''.

The project to equip the Unit of Demolition of the battalion with shovel mechanics, retroescavadeira, trucks and tractor of mat appeared has two years, but it only entered in practical has about 40 days, when the first purchase was made. Each vehicle cost about R$ 200 a thousand, following to the scratch the necessities of the actions of the battalion.



INVESTMENT

"We made a study to see what we really needed in the scene that we have today in the slum quarters. The Bope used loaned equipment, that nor always was available e, in case that it had damages, was necessary to arcar with the costs. It is an excellent investment and that he goes to return to the people its right to go and to come", it counted `father of ideia', lieutenant-colonel Alberto Pine Grandson, former-commander of the Bope.

The first vehicle delivers to the battalion was a shovel mechanics, that has reach of six meters of length and is capable to remove obstacles to a height of up to five meters. According to Pine Grandson, the next acquisitions will be a tractor-mat - of 15 tons and capable to transpose great obstacles -, a truck for transport of troop and one muque, tow-car that raises objects heavy.

The policemen who integrate of the Unit of Demolition of the Bope are specialized in explosives. They had participated, for example, of the falling of trees of one `quarter-general' raised for dealers of the Village Cruise, in the Complex of the Penha, last year. Only in 2008, the unit ordered for airs about 75 walls of containment, barricades and bunkers constructed by dealers of drugs.

Beyond the new armored fleet, the unit also goes to gain explosives special, for the use in communities, preventing the risk of damages to the population.
