Clapham can sometimes resemble a Spanish resort town with people spilling out of bars onto the street, alfresco drinking in summer and a real party vibe. Dig a bit deeper and you will find everything from quite neighbourhood pubs to boutique clubs. There is always a strong young professional crowd in bars in Clapham which adds to a fun and vibrant atmosphere.

My favourite bar in Clapham is without doubt The Underdog. Formerly Peoples Republic, the owners have given it a bit of a scrub up but the formula is pretty much the same. Free entry, party atmosphere and killer tunes. This is the place for a sing-a-long and dance with your favourite friends. It's one of the friendliest bars in Clapham and always puts a smile on your face. They always end the night with Oasis – Don't look back in Anger but the music is diverse from The Killers, to Lady Gaga. I would recommend this bar for a Friday or Saturday night.

Another popular bar in Clapham is Rinky Dink and is one of the best cocktail bars in Clapham. They have some tasty cocktails and a good DJ playing which is perfect for pre-drinks and a good catch up with friends. You can also order tasty pizza if you are feeling a little peckish. It is possible to bar hop all along Clapham High Street starting at Rinky Dink, and stopping along the way at places like Aquum, 64th and Social, Two Brewers and Bison and Bird. There is a great party vibe along this street, especially at the weekend.
For some great cocktails deals and an extensive menu, Be At One, opposite Clapham Common, is a great choice. This is part of a chain but is an independent and forward thinking bar chain that looks to perfect the cocktail bar at reasonable prices. On most days of the week you can get 2 for 1 cocktail's so it is worth the visit.

If you are on a date and looking for a little romance there are some great bars in Clapham for this. My two choices would be The Loft and Gilt. Both offer up swanky and stylish surroundings but have an intimate feel and would certainly impress your date. There are tables and booths for cuddling or deep chat but both have a soundtrack to support you if the chat is starting to dry up!

My Gay Bar of choice in Clapham is Two Brewers. This is a full on party fest with lots of rooms and bars to keep you busy. The music is consistently funky and fresh and you will find a friendly and up-for-it crowd making it one of the best bars in Clapham.

Finally, worth a mention is Gigalum, located close to Clapham South tube station. It has a fantastic Ibiza styled front garden terrace that looks out to Clapham common complete with palm trees and heaters.
