Another cycle of Model premieres on the cw on Dish Network

Premiering the CW on Dish Network is a new cycle of "America's Next Top Model" - cycle 13 to be exact. Can you believe there have been 12 of these already? "America's Next Top Model" is a reality tv show in which a group of girls compete to get their start in the modeling industry. The show premiered on the now-defunct UPN in 2003 to big ratings. It was then announced on January 24, 2006, that "Top Model" would be part of the new The CW network, a merger between UPN and The WB.

Since then it has continued to rank strong in the ratings. The show is hosted by Tyra Banks, who also serves as head judge. Currently, the other two on judging panel are runway coach J. Alexander and fashion photographer Nigel Barker. Past judges have included the likes of Janice Dickinson, Twiggy, and Kimora Lee Simmons.

For the first time ever on the show, all fourteen contestants of cycle 13 stand at 5'7" and under, which is well below the accepted standard height required for runway and high-fashion modeling. (simply put - tall is better.) Being short is not necessarily a death knoll - cycle 3 winner Eva Pigford is only 5'6½. This year the show will also welcome many guest judges, some of which include supermodel Chanel Iman, reality star Lauren Conrad, actress/model China Chow, television personality Kim Kardashian, and editor-in-chief of Seventeen magazine Ann Shoket.

The winner of Cycle 13 will receive a $100,000 contract with CoverGirl Cosmetics, a contract with Wilhelmina Models and a cover and six-page spread in Seventeen Magazine.
