Aethe
Aether is something that seems to be confusing a lot of players so it gets its own section!

Now in terms of what Aether is for, it is good for things such as the following:
.Selling on Auction House for Kinah!
.Used to "synthesize" your own Vitality items.
.Used for crafting various things.

Now a question that often arises is "But how do we even get Aether? I have found nodes but they require rank 50 collecting and I only have the default rank 1!"

When you move off to your level 10 zone for doing quests (Not Pandaemonium or Sanctum) you will learn how to fly. In this same area you are flying at you will see just a little above your head some Aether nodes. These are the ones you need to farm first because they are the rank 1's. While you are in the first area it is a good idea to go ahead and farm them until you get to collecting 50 or 75, just for simplicity. You can always come back to the zone later if you wish, it is just easier to take care of it now.

Now, to tell what level the Aether is that you see, it is based on height. The lowest will be 1, above that 25, above that 50, etc. As you keep going higher and higher the Aether requirement will also rise. So if you are in an area where only 50 and above is, for example, you will need to go to a lower leveled area to find lower leveled Aether.

Note that these are only available in "Free flight zones." If you are not able to actually fly, you will not find Aether to extract.

Also keep in mind that while flying you can lose your flight time and fall to your death. Unlike normal collecting (for Vitality items), you will need to watch your gauge to ensure you do not go over your allowed flight time.
