ABSORB THE ABSTRACT!!

Were you amazed by the marvelous and meticulous paintings in the room of Rose in the movie ‘Titanic'? The ones she insisted on nailing in her room… the ones she admired for her life? Well those were the splendid awe-inspiring abstract paintings!

You would have noticed that abstract paintings do not illustrate the reality, the ones that are portrayed in conventional paintings. When the art form tilted towards painting them on walls and canvases, they were usually illustrating a real or photographic appearance of something as well as someone. But abstract paintings don't!

Abstract paintings signify an exodus from realism. Now this departure from precise reality was either slight or partial or even complete. It depended on the artists' perception, views and passion. These paintings existed along a gamut. Partial exit from virtual fact included the liberty of altering the hues and forms that were prominent. Whilst a complete egress from reality bore no clue to anything recognizable. For instance, geometric abstraction does not flaunt even the closest reference to natural entities. At the same time, total abstraction and figurative art are almost reciprocally elite and exclusive. But they do portray partial abstraction.

One may easily recognize popular abstract paintings crafted by Van Gogh. Even artists like Picasso and Modigliani were damn famous for their skill in abstract paintings. Thanks to these artists that this striking art form achieved popularity worldwide. Recognizing abstract paintings can be very simple. They have patent bright and bold colors supported by bio-metric shapes. A combination of the two strike out the beauty of these paintings.

Now though ancient cultures have unknowingly created a lot of abstraction in their art, what we understand of abstract art and paintings today, dates back to 1910. This was when great artist Pablo Picasso along with Georges Braque conceived ‘cubism'.

Through the mid 19th century, the genuineness and practicality of classical art has been doubted by philosophers; for they laid stress on technique and depended on the logic of depiction. Simultaneously, the art of paintings had reached a dead-end with reference to innovation and inspiration. It was then that Picasso perceived the impressionism to be trivial and hunted potent means to express! And there were born the abstract paintings.

Now novices would wonder how free this abstraction could have been. They weren't all that free. With passage of time, artists of the abstract world began to feel limited within the cubistic and geometric chains. It was this time that another dead was reached. But then with the abstract paintings of Jackson Pollock, abstract expressionism took a turn towards the creation of paintings outside the conscious barriers!

When limitations were executed, imaginations ran wild. A flow of exquisite abstract paintings flooded the market and they still continue to do so!
