The music group Guns N Roses have celebrated the wild and untamed spirit of rock and roll for over a quarter of a century, and still have millions of fans all around the world. Twenty five years of uncompromising rock means the band now has with an impressive body of work.

Here's a rundown of the top five songs and the top three albums by Guns N Roses.

5. Nightrain, from 1987's album "Appetite for Destruction".

In his autobiography, guitarist Slash said that this was his favourite song to perform live and it's not difficult to imagine why. This song features chunky, dense riffs and the music thunders and squeals with an almost manic energy. When you consider it was named after Night Train Express, a cheap brand of wine the band enjoyed during their formative years, it's a fitting anthem to high energy and living-on-the-edge life.

4. Patience, from the 1989 album "GnR Lies".

This was recorded in one session with only three acoustic guitars. Axl has a talent for warmth and emotion that is on full display in this song which is a real contrast to most of their other songs.

3. Paradise City, also from "Appetite for Destruction".

This song launched the band's career and helped make Appetite for Destruction one of the most successful debut albums ever. Rock and roll fans know the first four minutes by heart, but the ending stanza of the song that features Axl's powerful and wailing vocals while the song kicks into double time and Slash shreds on his guitar are simply amazing.

2. November Rain, from the 1992 album "Use Your Illusion II".

Axl Rose worked on this song for nearly ten years and it shows as it is one of the band's most epic works. It's a masterpiece that has a string orchestra arrangement and Slash's greatest guitar solo ever, all combined into one nine-minute mega-track cemented by the raw power of Axl Rose's voice.

1. Welcome to the Jungle, also from the album "Appetite for Destruction".

This song perfectly captures the grit and grandeur of 1980s Los Angeles. Everything about this song, from the delayed intro of the drums, all the way up to Slash's yowling and raunchy guitars, to Axl Rose's growled threat of "I'm gonna watch you bleed," is fantastically dark and gritty. Yet somehow the song manages to be, simultaneously, one of the biggest "glam rock" anthems in the history of rock and roll.

Guns N Roses' top three albums, from three counting down to one, are:

3. Use Your Illusion II

Years in the making, this album's notes thank Slash for "the killer guitar melodies," which matched Axl Rose's vision. Slash has specifically stated that this is the work he's proudest of.

2. Chinese Democracy

This album took a decade to come to light, but it also heralded the band's triumphant return to the spotlight.

1. Appetite For Destruction

This single album has three of the top five best Guns N Roses songs ever. Case closed.
