Wanda Mckiver wanted to make a difference in the life of the African American women as they were molested, beaten up in the household and with her vivid writing she highlighted the social cause.
The year 1992 witnessed a remarkable change in the lives of most Africans American. This change was ignited by Tyler Perry the famous author of books and plays. Tyler Perry has been renowned because of his exceptional works that are featured in the arenas of film and theatre side by side. Another angel sparkled and spread out her magical spell on audiences of theatre and readers of books alike. Yes Wanda Mckiver is the lady who has highlighted the strokes created by Perry. She released her first book in 2005 and was a huge hit within days among people of all ages. Thus starting on the same note as Perry, Wanda has set herself on the mission if not to change the way people live, at least the way they perceive things and realities.
Though entrusted with the same mission, (the roots of this mission however originates from their backgrounds that were full of anxiety and unhappiness), the way Tyler and Wanda have been working and tasting success and fame along with exclusive hints of stardom varies significantly. While Tyler after his initial failure bounced back sharply and came in collaboration with people equipped with fame and money alike. Wanda on the other hand has seemingly chosen a sober path and her belief that people are the true power has helped her touch lives of millions of people.
While Tyler Perry chooses to woo his audiences keeping them awe struck by his unique style of storytelling; Ms Mckiver has chosen to write on familiar topics that actually happen in almost every African American household. She writes soberly on issues like child molestation, and the myth that underlines women committing suicide. Her characters are not larger than life and almost everybody can relate to them. Tyler contrarily came up with the legendary Madea in 2000; the Greatest of Grandmothers, Madea is a character which Perry plays himself. This larger than life character has yet managed to captivate the hearts of millions of viewers far and wide.
The strategy that Tyler and Ms Mckiver have adopted might have different directions but they converge at one sole point- people and their pains. While Wanda picks up threads from incidences of life, often shunned and shut behind closed doors, Tyler practices what he preaches. While Ms Mckiver spreads awareness around and voices the emotions felt by many yet expressed by few; Tyler tries and heals the wounds that victims and their family members bear.
Different yet similar, while one is described as the ‘Hollywood’s black President’; the other can be appropriately described as the’ Black angel’; both Tyler and Wanda have a way to go to heal millions of hearts. While Tyler derives power from spiritualism and humor; Ms Mckiver says she is motivated by people and people only.
In order to know Ms Mckiver is to read her works or watch her plays, as the characters are her mirror images in some or the other manner; while Tyler would be easily found on newspaper headlines and magazines. For more details visit Wanda Mckiver.
