A large screen and colourful styling make the Nokia 5800 Chrome a hit

The Nokia 5800 Chrome is simply functional and stylish. This latest variant of the hugely popular 5800 series from Nokia comes with a chrome finish and adds a level of style not found in the other versions of this handset. A large display screen is functional and effervescent, the additional features add a different dimension and leaves a lasting impression on those who view this impressive mobile phone.


The aforementioned display screen is a 2.9 inch TFT touch screen. It is colourful to the extreme due to its innate ability to incorporate up to 16 million colours within its imagery. The screen operates at a pixel size of 360 x 640 pixels. Due to the large number of colours displayed images appear life like in their colour reproduction. Automated features include an accelerometer and proximity sensors to ensure images are displayed in the correct aspect and battery power is conserved when the unit is idle. For additional data entry, handwriting recognition is also provided.


The Nokia 5800 Chrome comes with a 3.15 mega pixel camera which is useful for taking effective snap shots. The camera operates at a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels and comes with Carl Zeiss optics. Autofocus is provided with the benefit of an LED flash included as well. For those who prefer the ability to record and playback video, that facility is available and is at VGA quality and 30 frames per second. Video calls can be made thanks to the inclusion of a secondary camera.



Entertainment is provided by the built in MP3 player and stereo FM radio with RDS. The player has the ability to play all major audio files as well as the radio being able to pick up numerous radio stations and broadcasts.


Connectivity is provided by the GPRS, EDGE, Blue tooth and microUSB features whilst the HSDPA and Wi-Fi provide fast internet access and the ability to take advantage of hot spots located nationally in areas where the general public frequent. GPS with A-GPS support provides satellite navigation.



The Chrome Nokia 5800 comes with the ARM 11 434 MHz processor and uses the popular Symbian operating system v9.4. It is classed as a smart phone, but it is more than that. It has become synonymous with music and functionality that works well. This latest offering provides another handset with the same popular features but with a colour change that does it justice.
