Decanter Centrifuges are used for solid and liquid separation. Mainly they are used for the separating the substances having variable solid contents. The decanters are used for handling effluent sludge and separating solids from waste and process water. Also they are used for separation process of weighted and non-weighted oil based and water based fluids.

In the food and drink industry, you can make use of decanter centrifuges for juice extraction. Basically a gravitational force is applied on the fluid, which separates the heavier solids from lighter material (liquids). These equipments are suitable for wide variety of application and can be found in either stainless steel or carbon steel to suit a wide variety of applications. A hydraulic scroll drive system is present at the decanter that enables automatic control of the solids discharge rate, beside automatic control it also provides flexibility and reliability.

If you are looking for equipment which can maintain mud weight and its viscosity during the mechanical separation of solids from mud system, then your search can end at centrifugal decanters. When we use decanters with integration of control equipments for solids, it helps in maintaining the properties of mud within the drilling program prescribed range. With the change of frequency we can get middle speed, high speed and the variable speed decanter centrifuge. It depends upon the customer's requirement for speed of decanters. These speed manners can be either achieved through frequency converters or through adjusting its belt

Basically there are two primary types of centrifugal decanters:

1) Solid bowl decanter centrifuge:

The solid bowl decanter centrifuge is having a stationary casing which comprises of two concentric horizontal elements. The solid is discharged from small radius which is created by tapering outer rotating bowl element. The inner element is a hollow which is made to fit to contour of the bowl. This centrifuge is having low cake moisture and can remove solids with high clarity of centrate. Solid bowl decanters can have two or three phase versions. They are having low operating and maintenance cost along with environmental noise and CE regulations compliance.

2) Screen bowl decanter centrifuge:

Screen Decanters are designed in such a manner that they provide additional washing efficiency. They are also very helpful in moisture removal for applications involving crystalline materials. Screen bowl decanters are mostly similar to solid bowl decanters; they only differ in above said feature. These decanters are mainly used for mineral and polyolefin's separation. Screen bowl decanters work in two phases firstly they do sedimentation and clarification and secondly ends up with de watering. Their bowl ranges from 160mm to 1400mm in diameter.

Various Applications of Decanter Centrifuge

Decanter centrifuge is used for extracting solid materials from liquids. It is basically used for solid liquid separation, when they get mixed together. There are many industrial applications available for centrifugal decanter. We can use them for oil and solids separation in oil well drilling, refining, de-watering industries. For treatment of water waste in biological industries we make use of decanters. Along with this decanter centrifuges are also used in food and fish processing industries. Decanter centrifuges are always used after the shale shaker, mud cleaner when used in oilfield for solids control.
