The show fast turned into a subject for talk 'around the water cooler ' as folk discussed the singing capability of the competitors still on the program and debated who should get cut and sent home next. By the point the season curtain call run on September 4, 2002, the Fox network realized they'd a top hit show. The other networks weren't troubled. Not yet anyhow. That has changed though. The other networks no longer try and compete against american idol and expect their tuesday and Wed. night shows that air at the exact same time as American Idol to take a dip in the ratings. Dancing With the Stars, another favored show where the spectators get to vote on who stays and who goes home, isn't going to air their approaching season on Tues. And wed. Nights like they have in the past.

They're going to air their show on Monday nights and have their results show on Tues. Nights with the Tues.

Night airtime being right after american idol ends. American Idol is now the one show in America, by miles. In truth they could lose half their viewership on any particular night and still be in the top 10 television shows. Not watching the show can put folk at a social disadvantage because discussion of the show is a hot subject almost anywhere someone goes. That is the reason I started watching it in season two.

I was uninterested in everybody I knew chatting about it and feeling just as if I was an outcast because I knew nothing about the show.

And the ironic thing is the theory for American Idol didn't originate in the U. S. American idol is dependent upon a Brit television show called Pop Idol. Simon, along with Simon Fuller developed Pop Idol and then brought the tenet to the U. S. As American Idol. Brian left after the initial season. He was pissed off with his role on the programme, the producers were unhappy with his performance, and Simon Cowell was casually dubious about him. Dunkleman is involved with American Idol again though. He does voice over work on american idol rewind, a show rehashes everything that occurred in past seasons of american idol you know if you missed it or want to see it again. But why has American Idol become the phenomenon it now is? Naturally, it is not the initial singing competition to be run on the television. Star Search had singing competitions and was on the air for twelve years nonetheless it never turned into a mega hit. The key may be in spectator collaboration. Star Search had some partnership but from the studio audience while American Idol gives anybody with access to a phone the capacity to be a part of the selection of who goes and who stays. And the voting public gets to make 100 p.c of the choice once the top 24 rivals are picked. The judges get to speak their mind each week and they hope the citizens will hear them, but at last the audience decide. The audience get to make the choices. It gives spectators the feeling of control and power. Blended with the spectators making the selection of who goes and who stays is the competition themselves. They're everyday people just like you and me who happen to be proficient vocalists, generally anyway, and still haven't been found.

And, the judges and producers have a good knack for not only picking competitors who can sing but ones with character as well which makes the show extremely entertaining.

There are likely only a few folk living in the USA who have not heard about american idol. You just about need to be living under a stone to not know about it nowadays. Is a great thing or a shitty thing? I think it's good. It is a family friendly show without violence unless you count Ryan and Simon's or Paula and Simon's fights.
