MicroSD is a format for detachable flash memory cards. SD stands for Secure Digital. Generally, these cards are used in cellular phones and some new handheld GPS devices, expandable USB flash memory drives, Nintendo DS flashcards, and handheld GPS devices, digital audio players, expandable USB flash memory drives, Nintendo DS flashcards, portable media players, and digital cameras. MicroSD is the smallest memory card which available commercially at 15 × 11 × 1 mm. The size of MicroSC cards is about a quarter the size of a standard-sized SD card.

Now-a-days, most of people store their important data on portable memory sources. Mobile phone, portable global positioning system (GPS) devices, and video and audio players and recorders users use to store their data on devices. MicroSD cards are one of the primary formats for these portable memory sources. These cards are manufactured by SanDisk, which lends the SD to the name. These cards are able to support encryption and content defense making them very fast in transferring data. The transfer rate of micro SD cards is 10 to 20 MB’s per second. While the average transfer rate for a 600 to 1200MB file would take about one minute to load, pretty inspiring. Both TransFlash and microSD cards are similar, except that microSD adds support for SDIO mode. MicroSD cards have universal compatibility with TransFlash memory card slots.
