New Cabinet Knobs – The Cost-Effective Renovation

As your cabinets age, they will inevitably succumb at one point or another to wear and tear, from being used for years, day after day, to a such point that even the cabinet knobs will start to look dull and outdated.
Regardless of where your cabinets are placed, their knobs undergo much stress from day to day, and they’re not necessarily very clean. Think about it: most of the time when you open a cabinet door in your kitchen, are your hands dirty? Chances are that they’re soiled by grease and other various food residue which can be found in the kitchen. Or even in the bathroom for instance, many people open their cabinet door right after shaving without even washing their hands, and residue of shaving cream can be left of the knob. There is no way to avoid this other than wearing rubber gloves or washing your hands every ten minutes, and so in order to keep proper hygiene conditions, it is recommended that you replace your doorknobs every three to four years.
When looking at it from an aesthetic perspective, replacing your old, drab cabinet knobs with newer, fancier ones will already make your cabinetry look years younger. It is imperative that the cabinet knobs you’ve chosen go well hand-in-hand with your current style flow. Luckily, there is an endless array of designs and materials to choose from, which will generously alleviate your task of finding something which can go with your style.
When looking to renovate your home using knobs, there are usually two ways to go.
The easiest way would be to pull out the knobs already in place, go to a home improvement store and look for something similar in size and style. It will make things easier as you’ll be able to fit your new handles where the previous ones were without a hassle.
The second way consists of finding exactly the knobs of style and dimensions desired, and then any tools necessary to either expand or fill up the holes so as to install the new handles. If after this you want to take it one step further, you can go as far as refinishing your cabinetry and make it look like new.
