The night time our life changed...

I'm Brendi and I live in Durban, South Africa. The main reason I am posting this article is to determine if there are other families who also went through a similar experience and ways in which they coped with this situation.

2 years ago I was living an ordinary life, with my hubby, Mario and son. We had a family house & car and then we both had a excellent job. We were not rich, but we'd a great life. All this changed in one night as my hubby was attacked by three men who stole his cell phone. They stabbed him in the neck; ear and through his head. The knife went through his scull and penetrated his brain by 4 cm. When we found him close to the road, I must tell, I considered he was dead. After we couldn't contact an Ambulance we loaded him proper into a car and rushed him to hospital. They labored on him around 3 hours before I could see him. The next day a brain scan revealed the horror of this accident. He'd a lot of blood on his brain and also two false aneurysms. He underwent 3 brain operations, the first one was almost 10 hours in theatre, the 2nd to drain blood and set inside a drain and the third one to put in a shunt. When he finally came around after being in a coma for about two weeks, he didn't know who I had been or anybody either. He was in nappies. I was told he would be a vegetable forever.

This story includes a happy ending as, a couple of years later Marius starts to recuperate to the extent where I think we can actually start building a future again. This is only owing to allot of prayer and faith & believing he will get better, despite what the doctors say. Furthermore, i feel that i'm getting my husband back. Just one dangerous thing is that because he couldn't work, and I'd to literally change nappies and nurse him returning to everyday life, this had a severe impact on our finances. We lost our home & mostly everything. I started working again about a year ago to stay alive. It's very hard when ones life changes literally overnight.

Is there anybody around who stood a similar experience? What did you choose to do? How did you place your lifestyle back together again? How can one recover financially?
