Respect for every culture is India's real strength: Rahul Gandhi, Aizawl, 2nd April 2009

Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi addressing an election rally expressed his anguish and concern over the politics practiced by certain parties which differentiates Indians on the basis of region, religion and caste.

He emphasized that there must be space in the country for every citizen irrespective of which part of the country or which religion, creed or caste he belonged to. The Congress, on the other hand, believes that every Indian has the same value and "our strength comes from respecting different cultures, religion and people. Certain types of Indians from certain parts of India are more Indian than the others is a wrong notion.

Thanking people of Mizoram for the support in the assembly elections for the Congress Party he said today there is peace in the state which is the result of our then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi's initiatives and concern.
It is imperative to mention here that the UPA government at the centre is giving an unprecedented support to all the north eastern states so that they can also be brought at the mainstream level.
