Marcel Rochas was born in Paris in 1902 and became one of the first strong and influential designers to gain an international reputation. His fashion was inspired by the feminine shapes of Hollywood stars such as Mae West, many of which were his most loyal customers.
Rochas produced his first fragrance in 1944 a scent called Femme was the ultimate expression of femininity. The public adored this scent as much as they admired his fashion designs. The wonderful debut from the iconic fashion brand combined notes of plum and peach with extraordinary florals, Rochas Femme was so successful that it is still sold and worn today.
Rochas continued to add more fragrances to the Rochas brand until he sadly passed away in 1955. His wife Helene tried to take over at designing for the Rochas house however did not succeed for long, supported by many named fashion designers of the time the Rochas brand was saved and continued to produce ground breaking fashion. Rochas was taken over by corporate cosmetics giant Wella in 1987. The company has continued the legacy of Marcel Rochas and in recent years have introduced perfumes Rochas Byzancean an elegant and romantic scent, subtle and classy Rochas Madame, Rochas Tocade a long lasting elegant aroma, the fresh Rochas Poupee and Rochas Lumiere an oriental spicy perfume.
