The only drawback with this technique is that it becomes difficult to undo the modifications made. Damages on the photo like tears or punctures are beyond the capacity of this technique.
- Copying. This is the simplest technique employed in photo restoration. It entails simply copying the photo, then adjusting its contrast settings on the clone and enhancing the look on the resulting image. While there may be improvements on the photo using this technique, it will only be applicable to photos with mild fading. It cannot try to repair the damage on the photograph and usually the result is a darker version of the original photo.
- Electronic Restoration. This involves scanning the photo and doing the repairs on its digital file. Alterations can be made without modifying the original photo. This photo restoration technique is capable of reversing the fading process, repairing creases and tears, adding and removing colors or converting black and white photos into colored and vice-versa. This technique is capable of repairing almost any damage type. The only downside is that there are very few printers that provide a good quality photo print.
