Released in October 2009, the LG GD510 Pop promises a supremely simple to use handset whilst packing a powerful punch when it comes to functionality. Measuring 97.8x49.5x11.2mm the Pop weighs in at just 87g. This makes the handset extremely comfortable to hold and use.

LG claim the Pop is the most compact 3" handset in the world. Its simple design is virtually frameless so the screen nearly reaches the edge of the handset where it meets the tasteful silver casing. The 3" TFT resistive touchscreen is capable of displaying up to 256,000 colours at 240x400 pixels allowing clear and vibrant display of on-screen content. An accelerometer is installed which senses when the phone is rotated and flips the image on screen accordingly so it can be viewed in both portrait and landscape forms.

As well as vibration, the Pop alerts users to incoming calls and messages by ringing with the option to utilize mp3 music files as ringtones. A speakerphone is installed allowing hands free communication.

Internal memory is 42MB, however the microSD slot can be utilised allowing up to 16GB of storage for media files, contact info and other files.

Several connectivity options include Class 12 GPRS and Class 12 EDGE, as well as Bluetooth version 2.1 installed as standard. This allows direct transfer of media files and data between other Bluetooth compatible devices.

The Pop is equipped with a camera boasting 3.15MP which operates at a pixel resolution of 2048x1536 pixels. It can also record video in QVGA at a rate of 15 frames per second. The inbuilt media player can play music files in MP3, WMA and AAC+ formats. It can play video files in MP4, H.264 and H.263 formats. Media files can easily be transferred to and from a computer via the use of the provided microUSB port. Fans of social networking will not be disappointed with the Pop. Applications allowing direct access to MySpace, Facebook and Twitter are provided. Other extras include an organiser, voice memo recorder and T9 predictive text input. For entertainment purposes the Pop carries a range of games and Stereo FM radio with RDS.

An unusual but useful feature of the LG GD510 Pop is an optional solar panel for charging the battery. This can increase the standby time of the phone by up to 3 hours.

Rather than excelling in one area, the LG GD510 Pop is a versatile handset with an array of useful features. It is also sure to be a hit with fashion conscious users who will appreciate its sophisticated styling.
