The Nokia N97 Mini provides comprehensive technology encased within a small handset

The Nokia N97 Mini is aptly named, considering its size. What is surprising however is the level of technology encased within such a small unit. Features such as touch screen technology, a full QWERTY keyboard and internet connectivity are all encompassed within this mobile phone. Since its initial inception, it has gone on to become a very popular unit with the consumer.


Nokia have the ability to incorporate many useful features within eminently sophisticated and stylish phones, this phone is no different. Its TFT touch screen is a perfect example of advanced technology, providing the means to display images of excellent clarity and vibrancy due to its ability to display up to 16 million colours within the confines of its 3.2 inch screen size. The inclusion of both accelerometer and proximity sensors, further adds to the appeal of this handset. However one of its most endearing elements is the full QWERTY keyboard that is located behind the screen and simply slides out to provide landscape mode text entry. For those who prefer handwriting recognition, this is also provided.


The Nokia N97 Mini offers a variety of media playing options and as such requires a reasonable level of internal memory. Within this handset the memory storage capacity is set at 8 GB however this can be improved upon, by utilising the available microSD card slot, which allows expansion up to 16 GB. Class 32 versions of both GPRS and EDGE, come coupled with blue tooth and micro-USB connections, whilst internet access is provided by either Wi Fi or the handsets own HSDPA connection. Satellite navigation is also provided through the GPS function and comes with Nokia maps.


Entertainment comes in a variety of formats with this particular handset, as it incorporates both MP3 and MP4 style media players, as well as a stereo FM radio with RDS, which includes visual radio functionality. A variety of games are included, with the option to download further games if required. In addition a 5.0 mega pixel camera is included and has the benefits of utilising Carl Zeiss optics. Auto focus as well as geo-tagging and a dual LED flash are incorporated and included, whilst a useful photo editor provides the means to edit images whilst on the move. The camera doubles up as a VGA video recording device, which records at 30 frames per second whilst the secondary camera is also VGA quality and record at 15 frames per second.


The N97 Mini is a comprehensively functional handset, which has won wide appeal for its endearing style. Its compact size, packed full of advanced technology are the key elements that have won it its legion of fans.
