The Nokia N900 is the complete handset. It offers excellent functionality within a casing that is well designed for the modern mobile phone user. With simple and user friendly features the phone will become a firm favourite when released, which is expected around October 2009. As with many models currently being released, a full QWERTY keyboard features highly within its styling and the phone is all the better for this addition. The phone is compact being 110 mm x 59 mm wide as well as 18 mm thick. The unit weighs 181 grams, so as you can imagine, it feels solid.

The display screen is a 3.5 inch TFT touch screen which displays 16 million colour variations to give excellent colour reproduction of imagery. The screen has a pixel size of 800 x 400. The phone comes with an accelerometer and proximity sensors to ensure battery life is conserved as much as possible as well as images are displayed in their correct aspect. As mentioned previously, the handset offers a full QWERTY keyboard which is located behind the screen and simply slides out. The keyboard is simple to use and easily accessible.

The camera on the Nokia N900 is a 5 mega pixel camera which operates at 2592 x 1944 pixels resolution. Photo aids such as auto focus, geo tagging and dual LED flash offers welcome help in taking images. Quality is assured to some degree by the Carl Zeiss optics included within the phone. Video recording and playback are also offered on this phone with the camera able to take WVGA quality video at 25 frames per second. A secondary camera also offers VGA quality.

The phone utilises the benefits of the ARM Cortex A8 600 MHz main processor for its processing power as well as the PowerVR SGX graphics to enhance its graphics capabilities. Maemo 5 is its preferred operating system. Internet access is provided by the HSDPA and Wi-Fi which provide internet connectivity at speeds of up to 10 Mbps. GPS with A-GPS support is included as well which is ably aided by using the included Ovi maps.

The Nokia N900, much like its counterpart the Nokia 6760 , is a new generation mobile phone from Nokia, which offers outstanding features as well as style. The new breed of phone are becoming more effective in many ways, with the addition of QWERTY keyboards testament to this fact. This phone, when released, will offer a viable alternative to many current models.
