The Sony Ericsson W995 Silver offers excellent value for money

The Sony Ericsson W995 Silver is a distinctive mobile phone which has already proved a popular handset in other colour variations. It is a phone which packs a great deal of function into a small and compact casing. The phone measures 97mm x 49mm and is only 15 mm thick. It weighs in at 113 grams.


One of the phones most prominent features is the 8.1 mega pixel camera which has a resolution of 3264 x 2448 pixels. This is a high resolution camera which is better quality than many stand alone digital cameras. To help taking photo's the phone provides a variety of aids, which include auto focus, face detection and image stabilisation. For illumination the phone has an integrated LED flash. Video recording and playback are provided at QVGA quality recording and at speeds of 30 frames per second. A secondary camera offers the ability to video call.


The phone comes with a 2.6 inch TFT screen which displays 256,000 colours and their variants. Size is set at 240 x 320 pixels. This ensures images are displayed in true colour and with a good quality image. To ensure images are correctly displayed an accelerometer sensor auto rotates images to either portrait or landscape, whichever is the correct aspect.


The Sony Ericsson W995 Silver comes with an MP3 player and stereo FM radio. The MP3 player plays all major audio files and has a variety of additional features which have become standard on Sony phones. These include shake control, TrackID and SenseMe. This affords the user the ability to change tracks by shaking the phone or locating information about a particular track as well as changing the style of music to suit moods. Internal memory is set at 118 Mb and can be expanded by using the memory stick micro facility, up to 8Gb


Internet access is offered via the HSDPA connection and WI-Fi, with speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps, which is sufficiently fast enough to compete and beat many home based broadband packages. Blue tooth and USB complete the ensemble. Satellite navigation is offered through the integrated GPS with Wayfinder navigator as its included route bundle.
