Significantly, revival of the NAC coincides with assertion of initiatives like the women’s reservation bill by the Congress President Sonia Gandhi. NAC in its earlier stint had taken a remarkable initiative to introduce the ‘Right To Information (RTI) Act 2005’, that too, in a time-bound period before the end of year 2005, as per assurance by Congress President Sonia Gandhi. <br /> It may be mentioned that under Congress President Sonia Gandhi, the Congress-led UPA at the Centre has remained pro-active to ensure that key programmes are not only spearheaded but as in the case of NREGA, expanded through the length and width of the country, for creating an enabling ambience for developing social sectors in uniform manner. <br /> Congress President Sonia Gandhi has been keeping a watch on the existing flagship welfare schemes such as the rural employment guarantee programme and scrutinise other proposed legislations, like food security bill, dealing with social sectors, aiming to strengthen the reformative measures for overall inclusive growth. <br /> Re-election of Sonia Gandhi as AICC President for the record fourth term is being viewed by political analysts as a foregone conclusion as she is likely to get elected unopposed, as it happened in the past as well.
